Qualification as Aroma Therapist in Health Care
2013/14 – Maria and Wolfgang Hoch in Cooperation With the Bavarian Nursing Academy
1. History and Key Experience
In 2006 and 2007, my up to then very robust health left me gradually. Inexplicable pain, extreme exhaustion, declining muscular strength, changing visual acuity and all the other “little aches and pains“ – I simply blamed my progressive age for it. In the beginning of 2008, however, the pain became unbearable, forcing me to see a doctor. That year was characterized by countless diagnoses (today I know they were all misdiagnoses) and countless treatment approaches, none of which was crowned with success. In May and December 2008, I was hospitalized for emergency neurological treatment, followed by several months of rehabilitation. Signs of paralysis, scotomata, unbearable, agonizing pain - there seemed to be no end to it. Presumptive diagnoses such as spinal disc herniation, multiple sclerosis or brain tumor turned out to be incorrect. In the beginning of 2008, I received a diagnosis which sufficiently explained the pain and all the other symptoms: Neuro-Lyme disease. The diagnosis was followed by a further two years, during which time I received highly dosed antibiotics, interspersed with pauses and – every now and again – accompanied by ethereal (plant) oil mixtures. My aim was to bring my mixtures to a point at which I would no longer need antibiotics. During a holiday in southern France, I had my key experience: An ethereal thyme oil fell into my hands – chemotype carvacrol. Until then, I had already done extensive research and the ingredient carvacrol, inter alia, seemed very promising to me. The dosage of my mixtures had never exceeded a concentration of 5% up to that point. I had been warned by aroma therapists of using higher dosages, because the ethereal oils used mostly belong to the “therapists oils“ and must be used cautiously. But let us return to southern France: I had my usual pain mixture with me, 5%, and poured a blob of it in my palm in order to rub it into my painful neck area. The bottle of thyme ct. carvacrol was to be used as well – actually only one single drop in this case. However, several drops accidentally slipped out of the bottle. And what happened? Within ten minutes, my pain had gone away. My very personal aha experience! As a result, I started gradually elevating the dosage of my mixture, step by step, until I reached a 20% dosage, which finally had an effect. In September 2010, I received my last antibiotic treatment. Since then, I have exclusively treated myself with highly dosed ethereal oil mixtures. I am doing fine. I am of full health. I now work on a voluntary basis for the association OnLyme-Aktion.org, alliance for action against tick-borne diseases, and a culture club. I am fully able to work in our own company, can even do the assemblies, and enjoy life. This sense of achievement pricked up my friends’ and family’s ears. Thus three
